Before you start
- Your Aha Studio accountSign in with your Aha Studio account. The Backlink Worker is part of your plan. Without a plan you can try the free demo: one competitor link gap.
- Your website domainThe site the links should point to, for example acme.com.
- Your nicheA few words people would search, for example "dog grooming" or "project management software".
- Competitors (for the link gap)Up to 3 competitor domains.
- Your own DataForSEO key (optional)The link gap and broken link building read the DataForSEO Backlinks API. On your plan they run on Aha Studio's DataForSEO account, out of your monthly included amount. If you save your own DataForSEO key under AI and data keys, they run on your key and DataForSEO bills you; the Backlinks API must then be turned on for your DataForSEO account.
- Google Chrome (for the helper)The Chrome helper fills directory forms in your own browser. It is optional: the kit works without it.
PART 01
Find links
0 of 6 done- Open the Backlink WorkerAt backlinks.ahastudio.net, or press Start something new on your account page and choose Backlink research.

- Check the estimate and press Find linksThe card shows what the run uses of your monthly included amount (nothing on your own DataForSEO key). Watch each step move; you can close the page and open the run from Your work later.
- Read the resultsEvery site shows its type, Domain Rating (and where that number came from), followed or nofollow where known, traffic where DataForSEO gives it, relevance, a score and why it matters. Low value links say so.
- Track the ones you will workTick them and press Track it. They join your tracker as To do.
PART 02

PART 03
Track your links
0 of 3 done- Add where the link appearsWhen a directory approves you, paste your listing page address into the link. For outreach links the page is already known.
- Let it checkSubmitted links are checked every 3 days and live ones every 7 days. Check now checks one straight away. A found link becomes Live with its rel attribute; a live link that disappears becomes Lost and you get an email.
- Read the weekly emailOnce a week: live, submitted, to do and lost, and what changed. Download CSV gives you the whole tracker.
PART 04
The strategies
Foundation and niche directoriesThe business profiles every site should hold, reputable directories for your kind of business, and niche directories and lists found on Google for your niche. Needs: Your domain, your niche and your kind of business.
Competitor link gapThe sites that link to your competitors and not to you, grouped by type, each with its Domain Rating and why it matters. Needs: Your domain and up to 3 competitor domains.
Broken link buildingDead pages in your niche that sites still link to, what those pages said, the sites to tell, and a brief to write a better page. Needs: Your domain and your niche (competitors help).
Wikipedia opportunitiesArticles in your niche with dead citations or claims that need a source, the exact sentence, and a brief for a page that would truly deserve the citation. Needs: Your niche.
PART 05
Assisted, never automated
You make every submissionThe worker never creates accounts, never solves a CAPTCHA, never presses Submit and never sends an email for you. The helper fills a form in your browser; you check it and submit it.
Google's link spam policyGoogle's spam policies treat links made mainly to manipulate rankings (bought, swapped or automated links) as link spam, which is why this worker never submits anything for you and flags paid links.
Quality over volumeEvery site is scored, and the low value ones (profiles, forums, comments, paid listings) say so. A few relevant links beat many weak ones.
Wikipedia: Wikipedia links are nofollowLinks from Wikipedia pass no ranking credit to your site. The value is readers who check sources, and a page good enough to be cited.
Wikipedia: The conflict of interest guideline appliesIf the page is yours, your client's or your employer's, Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline asks you not to add it to the article yourself.
Wikipedia: Disclose it, every timeSay plainly who you are connected to in any note you leave. Paid editing must be disclosed under Wikipedia’s terms of use.
Wikipedia: Suggest it on the Talk pageThe right route is a short note on the article’s Talk page with the edit COI request, so an independent editor decides.
Wikipedia: Never a promotional editThis worker does not draft article edits. Write a page that truly deserves the citation; if it is not the best source for the claim, leave it.
PART 06
Where the numbers come from
Domain RatingDomain Rating by Ahrefs, with your own Ahrefs key first when you saved one under AI and data keys. Past the daily allowance it is DataForSEO domain rank, and labelled so. The starter list shows a curated band until the live number is read.
Links and the gapThe DataForSEO Backlinks API: the sites linking to you, and to each competitor, one link per site.
TrafficDataForSEO estimates of monthly visits from Google, where it has one. Otherwise it says not known.
Dead pagesFound through DataForSEO, then checked by our own visit to each page. A page that is only slow or down for a moment is never called dead.
The starter list22 business profiles and directories, curated by kind of business.
PART 07
